Plastic Pollution

Plastic is the Earth's worst enemy and unfortunately, it’s hard to get rid of as well. Plastic pollution is created by the growing mass of Earth’s plastic objects and particles in the Earth’s environment.  Anything from the plastic bottle’s that you drink from, medicine containers, lids, and straws are all made of plastic and they are also things that you might find on beaches very commonly. All these little things affect Earth in very bad ways that will affect us too. 

The effects of plastic pollution can be things that you may not expect. But even the slightest bit of plastic can cause a very sad effect.  Around many beaches, there are lots of birds. And these birds have to eat to survive. Most sea birds eat fish, and fish have scales that shine when the sun reflects off it. So the birds think that plastic is food because of the sun’s reflection. Then when they swallow it they could choke and die.

The causes of plastic pollution can be anything from, tiny microplastics gathering in one area. Which also is causing wildlife to die and the habitats to be invaded by plastic.  Leaving not enough room for them to survive. It can also be anything from people regularly littering. Because when you leave something lying around the wind could pick it up and carry it to another spot.

People can help reduce plastic pollution.  All you have to do is stop using plastic. And if you do need to use it, try to use it more than once because if you buy a single-use plastic bottle they can actually be used more than once.  All you have to do is rinse it out and fill it with water again. You can also help reduce plastic by picking up after yourself and not littering.

In conclusion, if you want Earth to live forever you better stop using plastic because it hurts the Earth and Pollutes our land, sea, and air. We have way too much plastic to be doing nothing about it!

How You Make A Good Script

To make a movie you need a script. To make any film you need a script. Scripts are used to help organize the words and actions of the film or the movie your making. They tell the actors what to say and help them remember if they forget the words.

To make a good script you need to know where you are going because if the script is too short, it might not be the best. And if your script is too long it can get very boring for your audience and they will get very tired of watching. Plus you want to catch people's attention not to drive them away.

To make a good script you can either use a device to write or you can write it in pencil. You need to decide on a layout and you also need to decide where the script is going to take place e.g outside a playground or even a shop. You also have to come up with some characters then figure out what the characters are going to say.

After you have decided on these things you have to read through just in case you want to change anything or add anything. And you also have to publish it. You keep doing this until you are happy with the finished product. Then make sure that your actors understand it because their opinions will probably help you become a better scriptwriter.

In conclusion, when making a movie/film it is very important that you have a script and it is good because if it isn't you'll lose people's attention. And the film/movie you're making won't be very good.

How Is Global Warming Affecting Earth

Us humans created this problem and now because of us, Earth is dying. There are many reasons why global warming has become a huge problem. Burning fossil fuels, creating more Co2 (carbon dioxide), increasing greenhouse gases and chopping down trees without replanting. We have caused these things and now the chance of Earth dying is a real possibility.

Global warming is the long-term rise in the average temperature in Earth's climate system. For example, have you ever gone to a beach and were able to go to the furthest rock, but when you went back the next year that rock was always covered in water. That my friend is global warming. Over the past fifty years, the average global temperature has increased at the fastest rate in recorded history and it’s causing many things to change. Including the sea level to rise.

The causes of global warming are fatal and all together they are destroying Earth. Scientists have determined that the major factors creating global warming are greenhouse gases, land-use changes, burning fossil fuels and lots of other different human activities. Most of these causes are something we have created and are either doing nothing or nowhere near enough to stop the emissions causing climate change.

The effects of global warming are very dangerous. And because it is getting hotter New Zealand’s most popular tourism spot the glaciers are melting, causing sea levels to rise. It's not actually just them. All over the world icebergs are melting and Antarctica is slowly becoming more and more unstable. As Well as the sea on land, there is a huge fire in the Amazon that's been burning for months. And the amount of trees we have lost this year is happening over three times as fast as last year because of the change in Earth’s climate. And more trees are still being destroyed every minute.

In conclusion, global warming is one of Earth's biggest problems. But together we can make a difference. Unless you are one of those people who love to wreck our planet and make it worse for others.

Pobble Narrative

The Sleeping Giant

For a thousand years, he had been sleeping, now he was awake.

The ground began to shake. And a colossal, monstrous hand, which had been lying motionless in a seemingly eternal slumber just minutes earlier, emerged from the earth.

There was an alarming groan as he slowly began to rise up through the ground. Arm after arm soon there was a leg then standing high up in the air hovering over a city stood a manipulative giant. 

He stood over the park in terror and one by one dragged his feet along the floor. As he groaned and thumped right through the park towards the city in anger. He knocked trees to their death and crushed anything that stood between him and his nemesis.

He left a trail of destruction everywhere he went and got closer and closer to the city as the loud groans echoed through the air. Screams of kids and adults made his ears miserable and made him even angrier. Everyone tried to get to safety quick but the giant was so big that he knocked over everything that was in reach of the next fifty yards.

Houses were destroyed, people were badly injured and some were sadly killed. But no matter how hard it was for the giant to reach the city he kept going until he was right next to the biggest tower in the city. He was sore and reckless but he was not going to give up. The city’s cries were getting louder and louder with every step the giant took. 

He couldn't take it anymore. The crying was terrible and over that, a big tree branch had stabbed into his foot while he was clearing a path to the city. He angerly smashed against the tower and knocked it down. The giant growled in pain but he had completed his quest.

His journey was not over yet though. He still had to destroy the city and restore the forest. No matter what comes his way he won’t give up. Then the giant left the city and slowly started to disappear over the horizon. The city was now left in silence, everything was destroyed and many people had nowhere to live. The giant was nowhere to be seen and slowly people started to emerge out of their hiding spots. The damage was terrible and many people were forced to leave their homes and move on but for some, it was too much to take in. 

But now it was safe again. At least that’s what they thought...

Baseball With Landon

Two weeks ago we played baseball with an old classmate named Landon. Our classroom split into two teams and then we decided on who was who. I can't remember who won but it was very fun. We all miss Landon a lot but we wish him the best in America.

Sport With Derek

Yesterday for sport we had Derek. Derek is the guy we go to for sport and ki o Rahi. Ki o Rahi is a Traditional Maori game. It's also very fun.

To play Ki o Rahi you need two teams, also known as Kioma and Taniwha. They also need to be equal teams to have a fair game. 

Kioma score by touching Pous with a ball then running through Te Roto (middle part) and placing it down in Pawero(center part) to convert pou touches into points. 

Taniwha score by hitting the Tupu(barrel) with the ball. Kīoma will have guardians(to protect the Tupu) around the Tupu to stop Taniwha from hitting the Tupu. Depending on which team has the ball, Taniwha must stop Kīoma from scoring by ripping one tag of the person with the ball. But if you rip both tags off, the ball is handed over to the other team. 

Cricket

Today for sport we had Cricket.

 But we didn't actually play because instead, we practised our bowling skills.

We had to partner up and grab two tennis balls.

Then we went to a set of red and blue cones and stood behind one cone while your partner stood on the other one.

Then you had to practice bowling it to each other.

I had a lot of fun but I was really tired after

My Animal Poster

This week for homework we got given a sheet of paper similar to a poster. Instead we had to write down all the facts, diet, its appearance and habitat. Then today we had to take that sheet and make it into a poster about that animal. The poster we had to make is for AG day.

My animal was a Miniature pig. The reason I choose this particular animal is because I have three at my home. Does anyone else have a miniature pig? Because if you do what do you feed them?

My Matariki Jackiwa Poem

Hey guys.
So for Matariki our Teacher asked us if we could make a Jackiwa poem about Matariki.
For most of you that don't know what a Jackiwa Poem is, it is a poem that is a Judi Billcliff idea.
It is structured like a sideways triangle where the poets tell their story in a minimalistic way.
